Research proposal abstract

Although total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a successful procedure, dislocation of the hip
prosthesis is a major complication. Dual-mobility (DM) cups have been designed to prevent dislocations. In this study we aim to investigate if there is a difference in the number of hip dislocations and revisions following primary THA, using a posterolateral approach, with a DM cup compared to a conventional cup in elderly patients. With the results of this study we aim to provide the large (and growing) population of patients with hip OA with optimal care.
