Research proposal abstract

Lateral partial knee replacement (PKR) is less well documented. Only 12.6% of the knee replacement population has lateral osteoarthritis and most lateral osteoarthritis is treated with a TKR. Low volume, technical complexity and different biomechanics may affect failure modes and survival rates. Since medial and lateral PKR both have their own indications, comparison of the lateral PKR with the total knee replacement (TKR), which is the alternative in current practice, seems a logical next step. Therefore, using
data of the LROI we will compare the survival of the lateral PKR with TKRs.
